Erika Cadena, LICSW
I am a client-centered therapist who works collaboratively with individuals to support meaningful change and personal growth. I use approaches such as EMDR, somatics, expressive arts modalities Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma informed apporaches. The therapeutic relationship is just as important as the modalities used. I also enjoy incorporating mindfulness and yoga-based practices into sessions when helpful to support emotional regulation, healing, and mind-body connection.
I believe therapy works best when clients feel empowered and actively involved in their treatment. My role is to provide a supportive, compassionate space where we can work together toward the goals that matter most to you. I believe part of my role is to continuously show up authentically in the space we create. Trained as a social worker, I also understand that systems can impact our well being such as access to food, housing and medical and mental health services. I am aware of the trauma caused by some of these systems today and acknowledge the harm an individual may have experienced as I believe that is valid and part of the work.
My professional background includes experience in crisis settings, inpatient mental health treatment, community-based care, school based settings and adoption assessments.
Interests: Yoga, reading, traveling , walks along the beach with my dog, watching movies, baking ”
